New Email Account Security Measures in Place
You have spoken and we have listened!
In our efforts to provide you a more secure and robust student email system, we are pleased to bring you the ability to set your own passwords for the Google Apps platform.
For all existing users, click here to see how to change your password to the newly applied 8-character format (you may keep the provided password if that is easier to recall).
For any new Spring 2011 students, you will log in to the email system for the first time with a password of “swfc”, followed by the last 4-digits of your Social Security Number. At that point, Google will automatically prompt you to make the switch.
Ex: If your Social Security Number is 123-45-6789, then your initial password would be "swfc6789".
Please stay tuned for more robust features and options that may be added in the near future, and if you are looking for optional features that we do not currently offer, you may direct any questions to support@student.swfc.edu.
NOTE: Usernames were not affected. These stayed exactly the same.
Student E-Mail System Through Google Apps
If you are an active student at Southwest Florida College, you may log in to this system at http://mail.student.swfc.edu or https://mail.google.com/a/student.swfc.edu/ by using your first name, a period (.), then your last name (see example below):
Ex: John Denver's Username would be john.denver (you do not add the @student.swfc.edu)
Based on the above example, your new email address will be john.denver@student.swfc.edu (this is your address, not your login).
For existing email users, your password will be the first 2 letters of your last name followed by the last 4 digits of your social security number (see example below):
Ex: John Denver's social security number is 123-45-6789, his password will be de6789 (New students, starting Spring 2011, will be "swfc6789")
